The trends
Large-format, minimal grout
The move to large-format continues to dominate. Panels of 600×1200 mm and well beyond create floors and walls that read as single, uninterrupted surfaces - fewer grout lines, a calmer space, and far less to clean. It's the foundation of the contemporary Sydney look, and ranges like Andrea Giorgini Cloud and RAK Surface 2.0 are built for it. Pair large-format with a colour-matched grout and the effect is almost monolithic.
The terrazzo revival
Terrazzo is firmly back, but softer and warmer than the bold 1980s version. Think creamy bases with gentle, low-contrast aggregate - used on floors, splashbacks, vanities and feature niches to add a playful, tactile detail without shouting. Warm, earthy & terracotta tones

Polished and high-gloss finishes are stepping back in favour of matte and honed stone-looks. A matte limestone-, travertine- or sandstone-look porcelain reads as natural and understated, hides water spots and footprints, and offers better grip underfoot - practical and beautiful at once. Indoor-outdoor flow

For a quietly architectural, urban feel, micro-cement and concrete-look porcelains are having a real moment - soft, seamless, almost shadow-like surfaces with subtle tonal movement. They suit warehouse conversions and contemporary builds across the Inner West and CBD, and pair effortlessly with timber and greenery to keep things from feeling cold. Statement marble-look walls
While floors trend calm and neutral, walls are where 2026 lets loose: a single book-matched marble-look feature wall behind a bath, a fireplace or a kitchen island brings drama and a real sense of luxury.
